Actor Headshots Toronto, Casting-Ready Photography

Toronto actor headshots that look like the person agents and casting directors want to meet. I shoot theatrical, commercial, and character looks in a downtown Toronto studio with same-week availability. Sessions start at $100 for the session fee plus $100 per finished image — fully retouched, casting-platform ready, and delivered in horizontal and vertical crops for Casting Workbook, Backstage, Actors Access, and your agent's website.

What makes an actor headshot different from a corporate headshot

A corporate headshot sells trust. An actor headshot sells type. Casting directors scan thousands of headshots in a session — yours has roughly two seconds to communicate exactly who you can credibly play. That changes everything: framing, expression range, wardrobe choice, even how the eyes are lit.

In a typical Toronto actor session I shoot:

  • Theatrical (dramatic) look — neutral expression, looking just past the lens, lit to reveal natural skin tone and bone structure. The headshot that says "I can carry a scene."
  • Commercial (smiling) look — open expression, often a half-smile or genuine laugh, lit slightly brighter and warmer. The headshot that says "I'm relatable, hire me for the cereal ad."
  • Character look — tilted toward whatever niche you're submitting for: warm authority figure, edgy lead, comedic best-friend, period-piece principal. We discuss this on the call before the session.

Most actors leave with three to five finals — typically one strong theatrical, one strong commercial, and one or two character options. Total session cost lands at $400–$600, well below the Toronto market average for actor sessions of comparable quality.

What's included

  • 20 to 45-minute studio session with two to three wardrobe changes
  • 60 to 80 frames to choose from in a same-day proof gallery
  • Per-image full retouch ($100 each, only the ones you choose) — skin retouch, eye work, colour grade, casting-platform crop
  • Both horizontal and vertical crops of every final image (Casting Workbook needs vertical, agent sites usually want horizontal)
  • High-resolution and web-resolution delivery for both
  • Same-day proofs, finals returned within 48 to 72 hours — faster than the 1–2 week turnaround typical in Toronto
  • Optional hair and makeup at $100–$200/hr (artist dependent)

You only pay for the images you actually want. There are no four-image packages, no minimums beyond the session fee, and no hidden retouching charges.

What to bring to your actor headshot session

  • Three to four wardrobe options in solid, saturated colours that contrast your skin tone. Avoid logos, busy patterns, and bright white.
  • One layer piece (jacket, blazer, leather, denim) for character variation.
  • Reference images — three or four headshots you wish were yours. We'll use them as a directional starting point, not a copy target.
  • Your casting platform crop dimensions, if your agency requires anything specific. The default delivery covers Casting Workbook, Backstage, and Actors Access.

A full preparation guide with wardrobe, grooming, and what-to-eat-before-the-session notes is sent after booking.

How fast can I get my headshots

Same-week sessions are usually available — the studio runs 5 days a week with weekend slots on demand. Once you select your finals, retouched images are returned within 48 to 72 hours. Rush 24-hour turnaround is available for +$100 if your agent needs them by tomorrow.

Why Toronto actors choose this studio

  • Studio is downtown Toronto, transit-accessible from across the GTA. Exact address shared at booking.
  • No package pressure — you choose your image count after the session, not before.
  • Direct posing throughout — no modelling experience required. I shoot fast, talk constantly, and tell you exactly where to put your eyes.
  • Casting-platform crops included — you don't pay extra for the vertical Workbook crop or the horizontal agency crop.
  • Honest expression range — I do not photoshop a smile onto a closed face. If we don't get the commercial expression in-camera, we shoot another set until we do.

Frequently asked

Do you photograph theatrical and commercial in the same session?

Yes. Most sessions cover both, plus one or two character variations. The wardrobe and lighting changes happen in real time during the shoot.

Can my agent come to the session?

Yes — agents are welcome. Bring up to one guest. Larger groups (full agency teams, classes) are billed as group sessions; contact me for a quote.

I'm under 18. Do you shoot minor headshots?

Yes, with a parent or guardian present for the entire session. The studio is a safe, accessible space and I work with student actors regularly.

Do you do digitals and full-body shots?

Yes — model digitals and full-body actor shots can be added to any session. Add 30 minutes to the session length and one extra image charge per look.

What if I don't like any of the images?

That has not happened, but the policy is straightforward: if you genuinely don't like any frame from the session, the session fee is refundable up to 7 days after the proof gallery is delivered. Per-image charges only apply to images you select.
